Former IT and Cybersecurity Expert for the State of Texas, Hankins Delivers Clarity Around Technology to Apollo Clients
Los Gatos, CA – October 6, 2021 – Apollo Information Systems, a recognized, industry-leading provider of network and cybersecurity solutions and services, announced that cybersecurity IT professional Daniel Hankins has joined the company’s executive team as Senior Director of Technology. Hankins’ focus is to support, manage, and deliver services and technology consulting engagements for Apollo’s diverse customer base.
Hankins is a recognized leader who worked to protect the State of Texas and their state agencies from cyberthreats. He last role was the State of Texas’ Cybersecurity Coordinator, working to promote collaboration, awareness, and education of cybersecurity throughout the state. He chaired the Texas Cybersecurity Council, reporting to the state’s legislature on the status and methods to improve cybersecurity.
Hankins formalized and brought the Texas Information Sharing and Analysis Organization (ISAO) into operation. With his efforts, the state was able to work across the public and private sectors on risk management and compliance, security improvement, cybersecurity education development, and workforce expansion, bringing in over 1200 entities in the initial year since launch.
In addition, Hankins created the security model for Texas’ data centers as part of its $1.8 billion procurements. The model is now the standard for Texas government data centers and is still in use. Hankins also brought the IAM system online for the largest government agency in the United States, Texas Health and Human Services and migrated all of the agency’s systems to the new technology.

Daniel has a Bachelor of Science in IT Management and Master of Business Administration from Western Governors University, and holds multiple certifications including CISM, CISA, and ITIL.
